Village District Treasure

Hello and what in the world is the “Village District Treasure?” First, this is one of several treasures near the Village District. I will share more than one treasure here. But first, let me share the purpose of this post and place. Whether it’s your first or gazillionth visit here, I hope you feel a warm (and bright colored) welcome. More Than One Treasure

Even if you live near me, you may not have even noticed this local, living treasure. I confess I didn’t notice it when we moved back to Raleigh in 2011. But when the mighty pandemic moved in and I started taking longer morning walks, I nearly stopped in my tracks when I first noticed this tree. It’s on the corner of a busy street intersection. And, no, there are no rolling hills and blue skies around it.

The tree is surrounded by concrete and shops and cars and restaurants. And, yet it stands tall on the corner of Woodburn Road and Clark Avenue here in Raleigh. Here’s my interpretation of that wonderful tree.

This sa-weet painting is 6×6 inches and painted on Stillman & Birn Beta cold press paper. This painting is unframed. It is for sale for $85 + $6.16 NC Sales Tax + $15 shipping = $106.16. Simply click/tap on this PayPal Link to make it your own.

If you live near this place, and you took time to walk through our neighborhood last weekend for the Forest Park Art Walk, thank you! I had so much fun greeting and meeting you here in my small but cozy studio.

I love that tree, it’s one my favorites in Raleigh. It reminds me of a giant bonsai. I like how you “relocated it”. Another tree I love is the Chinese Wingnut at the north end of Green Park.

Hi Mike, It does look like a bonsai tree…especially it’s twisted trunk! That Chinese Wingnut is quite a spectacle too! TY for reading and commenting here!

Such a mighty oak tree! (at least I’m assuming it’s an oak. Is it?) I love how you’ve filled the space with this tree and brought a range of colors into the setting as well!
