Revealing Raleigh
Wow what does revealing Raleigh mean? Now it’s not as risqué as it sounds gentle reader! But first, here are some quick facts about this blog. This is a place where, each week, I share my paintings, inspiration, gallery openings, plus an occasional dose of art history. Whether this is your first or millionth visit here, hiya, hello and a warm welcome! I choose a theme to guide my paintings each year. To read about this year’s painting theme, check the description in this link here. To subscribe and get a weekly dose of color for yourself, subscribe here. Now let’s get to the not so risqué reveal of this week’s painting. OK?
What’s to Reveal
Over the past few years, I have been noticing some unique paths, public park views and glimpses of nature around our house. Why? Well, mainly because I had to during the pandemic. But then, as the pandemic entered the rearview mirror, I found myself still enthralled with nearby surroundings. Here’s one example of a view at Edna Metz Wells Park 1600 Park Drive Raleigh, NC 27605
And, that’s how the show entitled “Revealing Raleigh: exploring real and imaginary landscapes” came to be.
Cafe Gallery Show and Bonus
I’m excited that I will have 10 paintings, including this one entitled “Edna Metz Wells #1,” that are matted, framed and ready to go! They will be in a show at the Cafe Gallery at NOFO @ THE PIG 2014 Fairview Road Raleigh, NC 27608. The show starts on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 and runs through Sunday, August 6, 2023.
And, bonus, if you are in Raleigh on Saturday, July 8, I will be at NOFO from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a “Meet and Greet” session. I would love it if you came by! For those of you who do visit in person, I will be offering a chance to win a Limited Edition Print of this sweet painting entitled “Raleigh Redbud Leaf and Twig.” Simply share your email address in the box provided. And, I will draw one lucky winner’s name at 1:45 p.m. that day!
Here’s a sneak peak of the print. It’s 2×2 inches: tiny but mighty.
“Raleigh Redbud Leaf and Twig” is printed with archival inks on Hahnemühle smooth Photo Rag paper that is 100% cotton. Oooh la la, I can’t wait for you to come see it in person.

June 29, 2023Your upcoming show sounds exciting & your giveaway is a great idea. One of the things about painting that I’m most grateful for is that it’s made me more observant of the world around me- you too it seems. It’s a wonderful way to go through our days, isn’t it!
