Out of the Woods

Out of the Woods

Why names this painting “Out of the Woods” gentle reader? Oh so many reasons! But before I delve into that, here’s some back story on this blog. Whether this is your first or millionth visit here, hiya, hello and a warm welcome! To read about this year’s painting theme, check the description in this link here. Here It Is

This landscape painting evokes a moment that you may have experienced yourself? You may be walking in a new place, as I was here. The path is clear and there’s a lake nearby. But still everything is new to you. As you finish up the new walk, perhaps there’s a moment where you realize you are either a. back to where you started or b. near the end of the trail. I love this moment!

I wish I could explain why? But there’s something about the experience of some place new becoming familiar that I love. And, that’s what led to this painting. Yes, it’s for sale for $295 + $21.39 taxes + $20 shipping = $336. To purchase and make it your very own, PayPal.Me.

Back in the Studio

For those of you who are long time readers, you may know that I have been away on a bit of a travel junket and visiting family we hadn’t seen since before the pandemic. Oh my goodness, it was such a wonderful trip. I will share more snippets here and there. For now, I’ll just say the British/Welsh side of the family celebrated several birthdays including the big 8-0 at a rambling, elegant, olde (yes old with an “e” ;-D) 1750s farmhouse in Bala Wales. Here’s a picture from the first night with David’s sibs/their significant others and his magnificent mom/her husband.

I Owe You

In the meantime, I feel as if I owe you a bit of a wrap up of the “Amazing Women Artist” series I posted while I was away. Fact is, I’m still pondering, looking and thinking about each of these artists and exactly what it is that draws me in to their work. If you want to binge read and review this series, here are the six women I chose to cover: Precious Lovell, Kelly Micca, Ajay Gustafson, Claudia Rilling, Catherine Kehoe, and Trisha Adams.

And, yes, I am just back from a whirlwind trip to most of the major art museums in Amsterdam (Rijks and Van Gogh Museums), Paris (Louvre, Musee D’Orsay, Orangerie), Madrid(Prado Museum, Sorolla Museum), Toledo (El Greco Museum) and Granada (The Alhambra). Whew! I will share more in the future but it’s safe to say I’m still processing the hundreds of amazing paintings I saw in April.

Exciting New Show

Since returning stateside, I’m pleased to report I will have 10 paintings in a nifty gallery in downtown Raleigh in July. So, stay tuned for more details on that very soon.

Hi Beth, Thank you! The gallery images will be a bit smaller than this one due to space constraints. Stay tuned for more info soon.

We are glad to be home but wishing we could zip your way and to David’s family with more frequency and ease!

Sending lots o love your way xoxo
