Breakable

What’s breakable?  I can’t wait to share with you.  Before I share more, here’s a warm (and bright colored) welcome to this place. What happens here? I am glad you asked. Each week I share a colorful painting with you. My hope is these color clad paintings delight your eyes and lift your spirits! If you’re new here and would like to receive these weekly posts, subscribe here. Let’s look more closely at this week’s painting, OK?

A Colorful Tribute

Here’s the painting! It’s actually a detail shot of an 8×8 oil painting in progress. There are enough details still in the works that I am not ready to show the entire painting yet. But here’s a sneak peak of it in progress.

Everything here is breakable; hence the title. And, my dear friend Barb gave me those glass stacked bowls for Christmas a year ago December. She died on March 7, 2024. I use those glass bowls to stash chopped ingredients as I prep meals everyday. So, of course, I think of her often. She also loved blue, especially teal blue, and there’s plenty more of that in this painting. Confession: given the mad, mad world we are in, I think, perhaps, dear Barb escaped just in time. Ha! I miss her.

The colors in this painting make me want to pick up the chalices and bowls. They are, maybe, luminescent? I love the idea of cradling a mug or bowl or round glass in my hand and your painting pulls on that.

Hope the show is a big success. I wish I could be there and see these paintings in person and maybe even purchase one or two!

Hi Beth, I wish you could pop by the show here too. I always am soooo grateful for your presence here even though “in person” is the best. xoxo
