Floating and Fleeting
I thought about what it might be like to float to the ground as I painted this leaf. On the one hand it might be scary? On other, the experience of weightlessness would, I think, be fabulous. Here it is; I love the color combinations!

More Beauty Now
Whether it’s music, movies, books or paintings, I am always in search for beauty these days. Here are two options that I’ll share with you. Here’s hoping you “catch the spark.”
Have you seen the movie “A Complete Unknown?” If not, goooo! I/we absolutely loved it. And, do what you can to see the movie “Eno.” OMG just the colors alone in this movie were gorgeous. And, you heard it right, the only way Brian Eno would agree to do this movie is if, every time it screened, the results would differ. Since I only saw it once, I have no idea which “version” I/we saw. But it was delightful and offers fodder for my painting ideas and more for all the days ahead.
And You
How about you, gentle reader? Can you share some beauty resources to help us all cope in this whacky world? If so, I would love to hear from you here. Take care and embrace the beauty!

January 9, 2025Lovely painting, Julie! You captured the furls in the leaves really well and the colors are indeed powerful – a nice contrast of oranges and blues. Really enjoying the beauty of the snow at the moment! xxoo

January 9, 2025I love the colors in this painting. They are somewhat unlikely to me and I think that’s the big draw? Those blues … set off that leaf which is a kind of curled up beauty on its own, isn’t it? Something comforting about this to me.
Thanks for the information about “ENO” which is playing in Boston in 10 days! Going to try to go see it.

January 9, 2025Hi Beth,
Ooooh I can’t wait to hear what you think of “Eno” movie!
TY for looking and seeing comfort in this painting. That’s beautiful on it’s own. xoxo

January 9, 2025Great Painting of this curly leaf, Julie. Light and shadow, complementary colors all give this painting a three dimensional effect.
I think your imaginations about being a drifting
Leaf added to both your delight and your painting’s effect.

January 9, 2025Hi Kathy,
TY so much for looking here and suggesting the 3-D effect of the colors. As a wonderful painter, too, I know you love it when the imagination takes over the paintbrush! Right? xoxo
