Take Care of the Little One

A New Little One
This week’s first painting is one that I began outdoors and finished in the studio. I am so excited to share this one! Why? It shows a new little tree that is flourishing nearby. Why does this matter? Well, there are so many trees being cut down around us. I was thrilled to stumble across 13 new little trees within a park in Raleigh. Here’s the painting! And, here’s another painting this week. I started this one, called “In the Air,” outdoors too. It’s 6×12 inches and painted on panel. And, yes the clouds in this painting are a delicious mixture of cool and warm colors that I love. When I finished it in the studio, I had so much fun! Why? Well, because I got to remember the sights, sounds and smells of that beautiful day as I painted. Here’s a larger version of this sweet painting! It, too, is for sale. Gentle Reminder

May 30, 2024I’m struck, in this post, by your range of ability. Not sure that’s the right way to say it but these three paintings seem to be sooo very different and I suspect require many different things from you and your artistic brain. I’m trying to figure out what each one is using so powerfully.
To my eyes I guess all three use light in powerful ways to draw my attention to different parts of each painting.
In the first one I’m taken by the power of distinction you’ve brought out in the trees and grasses.
In the second one it’s the weightlessness that hits me so strongly and the blues!
In the last one, the objects have their own textures which you bring out so well.
WOW! Inspiring. I’m definitely a more careful observer as a result of your posts!
