Ode to Cynthia

Greetings and here’s this week’s painting entitled “Ode to Cynthia.” If you are new here, check out this link for a full description of the focus of this painterly blog. Now, on to the painting, eh?

Who is Cynthia

Cynthia Bringle is a mighty potter and craftswoman living in Western NC. She, like so many other artists and craftspeople, is inspired by nature. And, so, her pots in this week’s painting are surrounded by plants from our garden.

If you are ever planning to travel through western North Carolina, see her work at the gallery at Penland School of Craft in Penland, NC. Her work is beautiful and functional!

I loved working on this painting. Why? Well, first of all, Cynthia and her beautiful pots inspire me. And, also, the more I worked the more I saw. Here’s the result! This is a 6×12 inch oil painting on panel. It’s for sale for $197 + 7.25% NC Sales Tax + Shipping. To purchase click this PayPal Link here.

Cynthia’s work is lovely! I just looked at her site and was happy to get to know her work. I can see why you’re a fan. I liked how you said that the more you worked on the painting, the more you saw. I can totally relate. That happens all the time during my painting process, which I actually see as a comfort since it reminds me that if I don’t get it at first, the more I look, the more I’ll understand. I especially like how you painted the pot in the foreground.
At the moment, what inspires me most is old black and white family photos. 🙂

Hi Alexandra, Sooo stoked that you took some time to look at Cynthia’s pottery. She’s an inspiration!

And, I love to hear that you, too, find comfort and seeing more when painting. It’s so much a part of why we do what we do, yes? And, I love seeing your latest work in recreating family photos in paint.

      xoxo back at ya!

      Hi Denise,

Thank you so much! I love that you noticed the shadows and light plus the yellow! And, to think, it’s all right here in our sa-weet house and/or yard. Happy painting to you too! xoxo

What a joyful looking person Cynthia Bringle is. Her website has so much that is appealing. And her way of showing texture in her pieces is something I think you captured in the painting. I also love the yellow blooms in the mix.

      Hi Beth,

Even though I haven’t seen her in person, I can say she is a super amazing person. So glad you had a minute to read about her and look at this week’s painting, too! xoxo

Excellent! I will be going down to the Penland area in about 2 weeks to learn how to make paper lamps. The artists in that area/are always so inspiring!
